Books to Prisoners is open Sundays 12 pm – 3 pm & Mondays 5:30 pm – 8 pm.  Feel free to come by any time during our open hours; volunteers do not have to commit to showing up regularly. Volunteers typically work on filling and packing inmates’ requests.  This work can be triggering and emotionally tiring for people as the letters sent by prisoners frequently reveal information about their personal lives and the conditions within their facilities.   If you find this to be the case, but want to stay involved with the project we will work with you to find other activities such as shelving books or doing fundraising.  We always need folks who love books and love to organize things to help us shelve books. This work can also be challenging if you aren’t much of a reader, as we need to be able to find books that meet people’s interests, but again we will work to find something that fits for everybody who wants to help.

Olympia Books to Prisoners is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment and to addressing oppression and discrimination within our space.
